ROAD TRIP: BY LAND AND SEA (RORO), FROM MANILA – VISAYAS – MINDANAO (DAY 3)

This must be your last day on the road, at least for this journey. Thank you Lord for all the guidance, safety and protection. Hoorray!

I don’t know where your destination to Mindanao will be, but from Lipata Ferry Terminal, Surigao, we are heading to Davao – Bukidnon route. Hence, the shortest path would be to pass by these provinces:

  • (Agusan del Norte) Cabadbaran > Bayugan > Prosperidad > (Compostela Valley) Monkayo > Nabunturan > (Davao del Norte) Tagum > Panabo > Davao City > Bukidnon
  • According to Google Map, it takes 8 hours & 15 min (419.4 km) via Pan-Philippine Hwy/AH26 to reach Davao City. And, again realistically, I’d usually add +1 hour for every 100km (taking account the road traffic, pit-stop, etc) so that makes 13 hours. Speed at 80 – 100 km/h. The road going from Tagum to Davao City is busy so I would add 3 more hours.
  • Bukidnon from Davao City, is about 2 h 30 min (111.7 km) via Davao – Buda National Hwy/Davao – Bukidnon Hwy/Dologon – Busco – Quezon Rd — during at night though.

Recommended pit-stops:

  • Enchanted River, Siargao, Tinuy-an falls, Samal Island

    1. How much gasoline fuel consumption for manila to Davao trip? Is it more thrift for land trip or expensive than the car for vessel freight cargo handling? May i adk your advise. Thank you.

    2. I am not sure if your car is diesel or petron, but if you can allocate 5K budget – this should be enough to reach davao.

Important reminder: If the gauge reaches half tank already, I’d advice to get refuel right away because you dont know when the next gas station will be.

  1. Do have an idea how much will it cost for a motorcycle, coz i will travel with my motorcycle. Is it the same with the lightweight vehicle or more cheaper?
    Thanks in advance.

    1. The cost is always a variable. My costs would always be deffirent from yours depending on a lot of factors. ie. Car type (gas/diesel, # of pax, hotel, etc). For our three (3) days trip, I’ve like spent P25,000 for each way, Paranaque, Manila – Bukidnon.

  2. How much fuel consume for the entire trip from Manila to Tacloban, then to Davao… per full tank and how often you put gas . I suppose if you have have 20 or 16 gallons tank vehicles ..

    1. Hi Tesa,

I can’t speak for smaller vehicles. I have 80Liters vehicle. I spent like P6,000 – 7,000 of diesel up to the point of my destination (Bukidnon via Davao).

The estimated cost for one-way trip is about P25,000 (3 days road trip).
